For every major achievement throughout history there were others with the same dream. There were well financed scientists around the world working on the airplane and the automobile; polio vaccine and chicken nuggets. When Colonel Sanders came along everyone had a favorite fried chicken recipe of which they were pretty happy. Thomas Edison wasn’t the only one working on an incandescent light bulb. The difference was persistence and massive action. Their goals were catapulted to a level transcending, “Wouldn’t it be nice if.”
You don’t achieve your goals for one reason. Whatever reason you give is an excuse for fear. Many people seldom set goals. They pronounce a few incantations, affirmations and prayers without the faith to launch them. The faith is important for it becomes the catalyst for massive action.
How do you take action?
- Resolve that I will be flexible in my approach but I will stay on the course.
- Establish a goal with so much passion and emotion you can’t sleep unless you achieve it.
- Develop and intensity instead of fear.
- Have a reason that exceeds the goal. Reasons negative or positive will propel you through challenging time.
- Recognize we all slip
- Review your actions more than your goal every day.
- Be obsessed. You’ll attract people to your mission.
- Applaud anything that moves you forward.
Ultimately if a leader or individual wants lasting change in their business and life they have to project that desired behavior.
